Sacrifices

With the national debt skyrocketing and the S&P changing our outlook to negative both sides of the isle are saying we need to make sacrifices. I agree- we need to lower our national debt. However, the sacrifices the politicians are discussing do not seem to extend to them. So my question to our legislatures is, “Are you willing to take a cut in salary and benefits to help lower the debt?” I realize this would be less than ½ a drop in the bucket, but I think it would show they are serious and it would also show the American public that our elected officials remember that they work for us.

Sharing Wealth

Hello - In this blog I will ask the unasked question. The question I would love to hear asked during interviews- but never is.

For my first question:

I think it is just wonderful that so many rich liberals think that the wealth should be spread around. Not to long ago, Michael Moore said that he felt that money was a natural resource. I was so moved by Mr.Moore's statement that I wrote him a letter.

Hi Michael,

Thank you SOOOOO much for offering to help out everyone out with your portion of the national resource we all call money. I know that it must be keeping you up nights looking for ways to free yourself from the burden of your enormous bank account and I would like to help. I like many others have fallen on hard times. So I would like to assist you in your efforts to “help me with my life.” I don’t want to be greedy, so I will only ask for 30 or 40 thousand. There are others that are in even more dire straights than me and I want to leave enough for them because as you said, it belongs to everyone and I want to give you plenty of opportunity to help them with their lives too.

I have some other great ideas about ways you can share your money. Did you know 800 million people suffer from hunger or malnutrition each year? In fact, every 3.6 seconds someone dies from hunger. I'm sure they could use some of your money.

Did you know there are 42 million people who have been uprooted from their homes and are currently living refugee camps? I think they would be happy to take some of you money too.

Our four legged and feathered friends could use your help as well. It is estimated that 3 to 4 million animals are euthanized each year in shelters. I look forward to hearing how your money will help them.

I’ll bet your employees are happy to hear that you will be sharing your wealth with them by giving them larger than the standard salaries with fantastic benefits. No more hiring non-union labor for you, right!?! I don’t know how much you will pay your employees, but I’m sure you would never give them anything less than what you allocate for yourself as a yearly “salary.”

Thanks again for spreading your money around. Let me know when you are ready to transfer the money into my account. I don’t want to rush you. Next week will be fine.

Thanks again!

Now- my unasked question is - How can Michael Moore are any other rich person complain that others are not giving or sharing enough? I realize that they probably donate to many fine charities, but if they honestly feel like the wealth should be distributed evenly, why are they still rich? It looks to me like they are just as greedy as CEO's who give themselves huge bonuses while laying off employees or taking government bailouts. I notice also that many rich liberals don't have any problem taking money from the major corporations that have questionable business practices.

By demonizing "big business", banks, etc, these uba rich liberals make even more money than they already have, the leaders of these institutions retain their wealth, and the little guys that work there loose their jobs. What a wonderful accomplishment!

Perhaps instead of criticizing everyone else, time and money could be better spent on creating busnesses and institutions that actually treat people fairly. But I guess that is a little harder.

These "champagne socialist" seem to want everyone to sacrifice for the greater good, but when it comes to truly sacrificing themselves, they appear to lack the courage of their convictions.
